Today I will tell you how you can do a reverse phone number look up. One thing to keep in mind is that not all reverse look ups are free. Many cell phone numbers and landline numbers are unlisted. This can make the process more difficult to nearly impossible if you are unwilling to pay for the trace. If you really need the cell phone number lookup there are many services who can find unlisted numbers but they will most likely charge you a fee.
If you are interested in just obtaining a basic trace you should always try to Google the 10 digit number first. Be sure to include the full area code. Also, it is important to remember to separate the phone number with dashes or spaces after the area code, and after the next three numbers. If you are lucky this will bring up both a name and an address. This is more likely to work if the number you are looking up belongs to a licensed business with a publically accessible contact page.
If this does not bring up any results then you should insert quotations marks at the beginning and ending of the number. The benefit of using quotation marks is that it tells the search engine that you want the results for this precise phrase. It is helpful because this method eliminates many false leads.
One more option is to look up the first three numbers, (which are called the area code) and find out what city and state those numbers are assigned. There are many different area code look up sites available. You can also use Google as a reliable source for area code look up. Suppose the phone number is “310-123-3456.” Type the phrase “area code 310” into Google and click search. You should quickly see that area code is assigned to Beverly Hills, California. Now that you have that information you can repeat your search. This time though, instead of searcing for the full number, try typing “Beverly Hills, CA 123-3456”. This should give you more results to look over.
When looking over your searches be sure to check sites with classified ads. Often times a number is connected to an ad placed on sites like Craigslist or AngiesList. This can help you to gather additional information about the owner of the phone number. You can also often find results on resume posting sites.
If none of these methods are able to get any results, then you should consider paying an investigator to find the number.
